Wellbeing Days at Andamur La Junquera

2,000 kilometres, 2,000 kg of food: Wellbeing Days at Andamur La Junquera

On 24 and 25 October 2026, the secure truck parking at Andamur La Junquera, just before the French border, became a place to pause, to move and to talk about health. Together with Andamur, we welcomed professional drivers to our wellbeing tent for two days of health check-ups, smoothie bikes and honest conversations.

Listening first

In the tent, we started with a simple question: what helps you feel well on the road? Drivers told us about their days, their stops and what good facilities mean to them. A basic health check-up then opened the door to prevention. One to one or in small groups, we talked about the results, about small habits that protect body and mind, and about how to stay strong in a job that asks a lot.

Pedal, blend, share

Next door, the smoothie bikes drew smiles and a little friendly competition. Drivers pedalled to power the blender and enjoyed a fresh smoothie made with their own energy. Every kilometre also counted for others: through Andamur’s initiative Your Kilometres Count, Andamur donated 1 kg of food for every kilometre cycled. Over the two days, drivers cycled 2,000 kilometres, and that became 2,000 kg of food, two whole tonnes, for the Banc dels Aliments de Girona, the Girona Food Bank.

A family welcome

Some of the warmest moments of the weekend came from our hosts themselves. Andamur’s founders, María Dolores Sánchez and Fulgencio López, parents of today’s owners, were with us at La Junquera. They shared their stories, spent time with the team and talked with the drivers who stopped by the tent. María Dolores Sánchez, co-founder, supported the EWellIn team throughout, and her warm and welcoming attitude made everyone feel at home. Fulgencio López set an example of his own, inspiring drivers and lifting the team spirit all around him.

“Since 1987, our family has lived by what we call atención al cliente, truly caring for every driver who stops with us,” said Fulgencio López, co-founder of Andamur. “At La Junquera I took the health check-up myself, because caring starts with example. We have to show the next generations, in our family and on the road, that looking after drivers also means helping them look after their own health.”

Andamur and La Junquera

Today Andamur is run by the founders’ four sons, Salvador, Juan Carlos, Pedro Javier and Miguel Ángel López Sánchez, with Juan Carlos as President and Miguel Ángel as CEO. From Lorca (Murcia), the family company has grown to eight of its own service areas in Spain and more than 1,400 partner service areas across Europe, guided by its motto, Every Trip Matters. La Junquera, opened in 1996, was the first service station for lorries at this crossing. Its secure parking welcomes up to 105 trucks, holds Gold certification under the European SSTPA standard and offers drivers a free gym.

Part of a bigger journey

These Wellbeing Days are part of our four-year Wellbeing Campaign “Drive Safe, Park Safe, Work Safe, Live Well”. In 2026, Year 2 is all about parking, so our events take place in the parkings themselves. Every conversation travels with us to our Wellbeing Working Groups, where supporters of the initiative develop programmes that enhance drivers’ wellbeing.

Thank you to the Andamur family and its team at La Junquera for their warm welcome, and to every driver who stopped by, cycled a few kilometres and shared a moment with us. Our next stop: Wellbeing Days at Security Park (Trucks’nB), France, on 28 October 2026.
