Wellbeing Days at OnTurtle Spain

La Jonquera (Girona), Spain

Save the Date: A Day Dedicated to Driver Wellbeing in the Heart of Europe’s Transport Routes

We are thrilled to announce the first Wellbeing Days event of the season, hosted by OnTurtle – one of Europe’s most respected secure parking and service operators – as part of the European Wellbeing Initiative (Ewellin).

Powered by ESPORG and launched with the support of the European Commission and more than 150 stakeholders, Ewellin is a warm, people-first movement that puts the health, safety, and happiness of professional drivers at the centre of everything we do.

Why OnTurtle? Because They Already Walk the Talk

OnTurtle has long been a pioneer in creating safe, comfortable, and welcoming spaces for drivers. Their flagship service area in La Jonquera – strategically located on the Spain-France border – is not just a parking spot. It’s a true “Home Away from Home”: secure, EU certified, award-winning (multiple times named among Europe’s best truck parking areas), and designed with real driver needs in mind – from high-quality rest facilities to 24/7 support.

Now, OnTurtle is taking the next beautiful step: opening its doors wider than ever to celebrate wellbeing together with the entire transport community.

European Wellbeing Initiative – OnTurtle La Jonquera “Drive Safe · Park Safe · Work Safe · Live Well”

Date: May 29, 2026 Location: OnTurtle La Jonquera Address: Polígono Industrial La Campa 5 (17700) La Jonquera, Girona

09:00 – Arrival of participants at Hotel Tramuntana • Registration and welcome coffee • Photocall • Networking space for institutional representatives and transport professionals

09:30 – Opening session • Welcome by OnTurtle La Jonquera – Marta Fabregas (CEO, OnTurtle) • Speech by Dirk Penasse (GM, ESPORG) • Presentation of the “Wellbeing” philosophy by Druselia Betea (Director, Wellbeing Initiative)

10:00 – Roundtable: “The Future of Road Transport: Challenges and Safety”

Road transport in Europe is undergoing a structural transformation shaped by driver shortages, digitalization, sustainability, and safety. One of the main current challenges is the lack of adequate infrastructure: there is an estimated shortage of nearly 390,000 secure parking spaces in the EU, directly impacting safety, rest conditions, and talent attraction.

• How does the driver shortage impact safety and sustainability in the sector? • Direct link between driver wellbeing and road safety (fatigue, stress, accidents) • Role of technology (telematics, AI, ADAS) in improving safety • Critical infrastructure: shortage of secure parking and its operational impact • Balancing logistics efficiency vs. decent working conditions • How can the sector become more attractive to new generations? • Role of institutions in creating safe and connected ecosystems

10:45 – Roundtable: “Health and Wellbeing in Road Transport”

Driver health has become a strategic priority in Europe. The European Wellbeing Initiative promotes a holistic approach (physical, mental, and social), integrating

health, rest, and working conditions as pillars of performance and safety. Drivers face long working hours, social isolation, lack of proper facilities, stress, and fatigue, leading to higher turnover and reduced safety.

• How can wellbeing be integrated into business strategy, beyond CSR? • Mental health: loneliness, stress, family disconnection • Impact of wellbeing on: o Road safety o Productivity o Driver retention • Role of companies in training, health programs, and organizational culture • How can the ROI of wellbeing be measured?

11:30 – Coffee break

11:45 – Activity led by Druselia Betea

12:00 – Roundtable: “Drive Safe”: Benefits of Secure Parking

The concept of secure parking has evolved: it is no longer just about physical security, but a wellbeing hub for drivers. Parking areas should be “a home away from home,” integrating safety, services, hygiene, rest, and connectivity.

The “Drive Safe, Park Safe, Work Safe, Live Well” program directly links parking with road safety, driver health, and logistics efficiency.

• What truly defines a high-quality, secure parking area? • Direct impact on theft reduction, effective rest, and psychological wellbeing • Parking as a competitive advantage for transport operators • Integration of services • Role of certifications and common standards • Collaboration between operators, public authorities, and private companies

12:45 – Signing of the Wellbeing Pact • Commitment to the “Wellbeing Pledge”

13:00 – Lunch – Networking • Space to foster synergies among sector stakeholders

14:00 – Wellbeing Activities • Dedicated area for activities promoting driver wellbeing
